If you're on the hunt for delicious gluten-free options in Nashville, you're in luck! The city boasts a vibrant selection of gluten-free restaurants, bakeries, and cafes catering to all tastes. Whether you're craving a slice of gluten-free pizza, a dairy-free decadent dessert, or a healthy vegan meal, Nashville has something for everyone. For those with celiac disease or gluten sensitivities, finding safe and tasty options is crucial, and Nashville's gluten-free guide is your go-to resource. From dedicated gluten-free bakeries to cafes offering vegan and gluten-free dishes, you can enjoy a diverse culinary experience without worrying about gluten. Don't miss out on the best gluten-free spots in Nashville, where flavor meets dietary needs in perfect harmony!
As a newly branded local (I've just been in Nashville for a little over a year and a half!) I have had my fair share of trying to figure out this new city and what it offers for food options being gluten free and vegan! It is definitely one of the hardest places I have ever lived or traveled to to figure out. A lot of gluten free people who are locals find themselves typically not going out to eat in the city because of this! But none the less I have scoured the city to find some enjoyable eats and spots for your gluten free (and possibly vegan) heart, so that you can make the most out of your time here in Nashville. I hope to open your eyes to some spots that are under the radar and if you don't see some very common spots on the list it's because i don't think they fit the bill for what is amazing and delicious.
A few important things to know about eating gluten free and allergy friendly in Nashville
1) If the restaurant doesn't have a menu that they mark with the GF/V/VG etc. signs on them, there is a good chance they literally will not understand you if you ask if something is gluten free there. Same goes for dairy free, vegan, vegetarian, etc. Tennessee is truly it's own version of the South and I have never experienced so much ignorance in my life. HA! 2) Very little food is healthy here, so just because it maybe gluten free or vegan DOES NOT mean that they cared about the ingredients or your health, most of the gluten free bakery items in town are loaded with sugar and processed ingredients. 3) Most vegan options are fried....most food in general here is fried 4) Restaurant hours are a true mystery here, don't trust google, and it is best to call first, yes even on the weekend. Most restaurants are closed Tuesdays AND Sundays. Plus most places close early in the evening. Also most places will say they last seat at 8:30 for a 9pm closing... but alot of those places will not serve you if you show up at 8:30.
Now that you have some of the basics, lets move onto the good stuff. Feel free to share this list with friends, boyfriends, people you hope will take you on a date, husbands, wives, family, and anyone you are a kindred food spirit with. It is helpful for people to not have to figure out this stuff when they want to eat out with you! So make their life a little easier.
Cheers' Emily

Gojo Ethiopian is a delightful experience! I always go for the veggie platter, which is a colorful and flavorful assortment of dishes. When you order, make sure to mention that you're gluten-free. They offer a variety of vegan options, but there's one vegan dish that isn't gluten-free, so it's best to clarify your dietary needs. Also, don't forget to request gluten-free injera, the traditional Ethiopian flatbread, as the regular version contains wheat. To complement your meal, I highly recommend trying the Ethiopian Tea. It's a fragrant and soothing blend that's perfect for sipping alongside the spicy and rich flavors of the food. Must call ahead usually the day before and request gluten free injera, they don't have it everyday.
Neighborhood: Sylvan Park
Avo is a completely vegan and mostly gluten free upscale restaurant. The they a really yummy vegan cheeze board, lots of great app's and entrées plus the best Vegan Cheesecake. They change the cheesecake flavor almost everyday. Also yummy is the CBD brownie. They is a great spot to bring an eclectic group of people as they have lots of different cuisines on the menu.
Neighborhood: Downtown/Broadway
Blue Sushi Grill is a fantastic spot for those with dietary preferences or restrictions! They offer a separate, completely gluten-free menu, so be sure to ask for it when you arrive. The restaurant also clearly labels all vegan options, making it easy to find dishes that suit your needs. My personal favorite is the Vegan Tuna Tower—it's a must-try! The atmosphere at Blue Sushi Grill is vibrant and lively, perfect for both larger group gatherings and cozy date nights, offering a versatile dining experience for any occasion.

Each dish is thoughtfully crafted, making Butcher & Bee a delightful place to explore a variety of unique flavors and culinary creativity.

East Nashville Beer Works has the best vegan & gluten free pizza in all of Nashville. I know I was surprised a beer place does too! The crust is cauliflower based, made locally and soooo good. In general this bar is so cool, very family & dog friendly. It is a such a special local's spot, they have music and outdoor movie nights. It is one of my favorite places in the Summertime.
Neighborhood: Kingston Springs (outside of Nashville about 20 min)

The venue thoughtfully provides blankets, ensuring that even on cooler days, you can stay warm and comfortable while enjoying your meal. With a welcoming ambiance, it's an ideal setting for both intimate gatherings and lively social events, offering a memorable way to enjoy delicious tea under the open sky. They typically are open fri-sun 10am-2pm
Neighborhood: East Nash
East Side Pho is one of my favorite spots for Vegan Pho in Nashville. The soup base is tamarind so it's a little bit more sour than the typically Pho but i love it! They also have many Asian noodles dishes. The are located in a mini food mall which is an outdoor food court with 5 restaurants in it. All seating is outdoor but a large area of it is covered because it could and will rain at a moment's notice in Nashville. The majority of the menu is gluten free and dairy free. All the pho's are gluten free as long as you omit the hoisin sauce on the side. I always order the Pho without the impossible meatballs as I don't eat any sort of food that has been genetically engineered.
Neighborhood: Edgehill/Midtown
At Two Boots, the vegan "cheese" toppings are a standout feature, offering a delicious alternative that perfectly complements their array of fresh vegetables. Whether you're craving a classic combination or feeling adventurous enough to create your own veggie pizza masterpiece, there are endless ways to customize your pie to suit your tastes. The gluten-free crust, although a familiar pre-made option found at many other pizza places in the U.S., pairs well with the rich flavors of their toppings, ensuring a satisfying experience for gluten-sensitive diners. The all-outdoor seating arrangement adds a casual and relaxed vibe to your dining experience, making it a great spot to enjoy a slice under the stars. Whether you're stopping by for a quick bite or planning a leisurely meal, Two Boots offers a laid-back atmosphere where you can savor tasty dairy free and gluten-free pizza options.
Neighborhood: Sylvan Park (across the street from Avo)
Koko's is a haven for vegan ice cream lovers, featuring a delightful array of coconut-based flavors that are sure to satisfy your sweet tooth. What sets Koko's apart is their offering of gluten-free cones, allowing everyone to enjoy their creamy, dairy-free treats in a classic, crunchy cone. Their menu boasts a wide variety of rotating seasonal flavors, ensuring that there's always something new and exciting to try. From rich, chocolatey options to fruity choices, each flavor is crafted with care and creativity, making it hard not to fall in love with every scoop. In my quest for the best vegan ice cream in Nashville, Koko's consistently stands out, delivering a taste experience that's both indulgent and accessible. Whether you're vegan, gluten-sensitive, or simply an ice cream enthusiast, Koko's offers a delightful experience that shouldn't be missed.

Two Hands is widely recognized as a go-to brunch spot, but its offerings extend well into the evening with a dinner menu. This versatile eatery takes pride in catering to various dietary needs, making it an excellent choice for anyone with specific food preferences or allergies. The menu is thoughtfully designed, clearly indicating which dishes are dairy-free, gluten-free, vegetarian, or contain tree nuts. This transparency ensures that every guest can make informed choices and enjoy their meal with confidence. Neighborhood: 12 South, East Nash
Bar Taco is becoming a new favorite spot of mine, and I’m thrilled they’ve introduced new rice bowls to the menu—definitely adding them to my go-to list! The flavors are fresh and vibrant, making them a satisfying option for any meal. Another must-try are the plantains; you can order them “dessert-style,” and they’re incredibly delicious that way, with just the right touch of sweetness. Their new vegan chocolate pudding is another standout, rich and creamy without being overly heavy. To top it all off, the agua frescas are perfect for refreshing sips alongside all the tasty bites!
Neighborhood: Green Hills
True Food Kitchen is a top choice for those with dietary preferences or restrictions, thanks to its clearly labeled gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options. This thoughtful menu design makes it easy for guests to find dishes that suit their needs. Whether you're adhering to a gluten-free diet, following a plant-based lifestyle, or simply looking for wholesome meals, True Food Kitchen offers a diverse selection of dishes that are both nutritious and flavorful. Parlor Donuts offers a delightful gluten-free and vegan donut with various glaze and sugar topping options, perfect for those with dietary considerations. They bake their donuts throughout the day, so you might even catch one fresh from the oven in the afternoon. I've visited the Midtown/West End location, which features a warm, inviting atmosphere and plenty of indoor seating, making it ideal for both quick stops and larger group gatherings. It's a great spot to enjoy a customizable and freshly baked treat.

Thai Esane offers an array of delicious Thai dishes that are sure to satisfy any craving. One of my favorites is the Pineapple Cashew Rice, a delightful blend of sweet and savory flavors with perfectly cooked rice, juicy pineapple chunks, and crunchy cashews. If you need a gluten-free meal, be sure to inform the staff. Many of their dishes can be made gluten-free, but it's important to communicate your dietary needs each time you order to ensure your meal is prepared correctly. The staff at Thai Esane are attentive and accommodating, making it a great spot for anyone with specific dietary preferences.
Neighborhood: The Gulch
Chauhan Ale & Masala House is a vibrant Indian fusion restaurant with a distinctive flair, leaning toward South Indian influences, at least in my experience. The menu is a delightful blend of traditional and innovative dishes, offering a unique take on Indian cuisine that sets it apart from more conventional Indian restaurants. What truly stands out to me are their Veggie Thalis and side dishes. These offerings provide a rich variety of flavors and textures, showcasing a creative approach to classic Indian ingredients.
Neighborhood: 12 South
International Market is a vibrant Southeast Asian restaurant that offers a diverse culinary experience. Their daily lunch counter is a highlight, allowing you to mix and match a variety of dishes to create your perfect meal. For those who prefer a more structured dining experience, their regular lunch menu is equally impressive, which is what I usually opt for. The menu is clearly labeled with vegan and gluten-free options, making it easy for those with dietary restrictions to find something delicious. With a plethora of choices, International Market ensures that everyone can enjoy the rich and varied flavors of Southeast Asian cuisine. This spot isn't on 12 South proper but is in the 12 South neighborhood. Right next to the college. I have only been here for lunch, I have heard it can be hard to get in on the weekend without a reservation.
